Phillipa Cherryson
I’m pushing 50, I hold down a sedentary office job, I’ve got a dodgy knee, gammy hip and I’ve been through spinal surgery.
How on earth could I be an adventurer?
Well I believe I am, although a very cautious one!
I’ve always loved being outdoors but a lack of confidence has always held me back. That all changed three years ago!
Since then, I've walked the 99-mile Beacons Way as a thru-hike, I've been scrambling in Snowdonia, surfing in Gower, kayaking on the River Wye and I've learned to indoor climb (I bought my first harness and rock shoes this year!)
So what sparked this change?
It's all thanks to the not-for-profit community Adventure Queens where I met inspiring women who then inspired me to do things I never thought I could. Now I organise the AQ South Wales group and I've just been named as one of Ordnance Survey's GetOutside Champions.
I still can't believe it!
I love sharing my passion for the outdoors and showing others that they can do it too.
And that's my message! If I can do it, with all my injuries and an auto-immune condition to deal with, then you can!
This blog is designed to share my favourite walks and pass on what I've learned along the way.
It really is never too late!
